Regarding Communion

At The Bible Study Chapel, we observe the Lord’s Supper as a sacred ordinance, in obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. As the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 (KJV), “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.”

In observing communion, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ—His body broken and His blood shed for the remission of our sins. It is a solemn time of reflection, gratitude, and self-examination, as the Scripture exhorts us to examine ourselves before partaking, recognizing the significance of the Lord’s death. “For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body” (1 Corinthians 11:29 KJV).

We approach the Lord’s Table with reverence, mindful of the great price that was paid for our redemption. It is not only a time of personal reflection but also a declaration of our unity in Christ and our hope in His return. “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come” (1 Corinthians 11:26 KJV).

We invite all who have trusted in Christ as their Savior to join us in this meaningful act of worship, as we remember His sacrifice and celebrate His victorious resurrection.
